Within The Home

There are 39 single bedrooms of which 26 have en-suites. All the rooms are furnished and decorated to a high standard. Most of the rooms overlook attractive landscaped gardens. All rooms have a small flatscreen TV and a telephone point. A passenger lift services the first floor.

Residents can bring in personal items of furniture as long as they can be accommodated within their room.  Soft furnishings items such as chairs must have relevant fire retardant labels intact.

There are two lounges. One is for private meetings, or if a resident wants to sit quietly or enjoy a family meeting and this lounge is known as the Quiet Lounge.  A large television adorns the wall and this lounge is also used as a cinema for afternoon films, to watch sporting events such as Wimbledon, Football championships, Racing fixtures etc and, occasionally, it is used for staff training.

The main lounge is very popular and is connected to our smaller lounge and panoramic conservatory overlooking our well-kept gardens. Most of the activities and entertainment takes place in the main lounge.  A large television also adorns the main lounge and is  used to view news programmes, videos, DVD's etc.  The smaller connecting lounge is used for residents' reading and/or listening to music.  The smaller lounge has added sensory decoration to enhance the lives of our dementia residents.

A wide screen computer is provided in the conservatory for residents to enjoy Skyping their families or simply surfing the net with the help of the activities staff and volunteers.  Our piano is also situated in the conservatory for residents and entertainers to play and enjoy.

All food is cooked on the premises in our well equipped kitchen by a small team of cooks.  Where possible, suppliers and produce are sourced locally, e.g. fishmonger, greengrocer, milk depot and butcher are all local providers ensuring fresh supplies and a good reliable service.  All meals are eaten in the conservatory, or resident's rooms if they prefer.  In warm weather the residents occasionally have supper alfresco.

A jug of juice or water is left in each bedroom and replenished regularly.  All residents are encouraged to drink often and are assisted accordingly.

There are four bathrooms, each containing specialist baths as well as a large walk-in shower room.

Our gardens provide plenty of outdoor space for our residents to sit and enjoy the garden, and to meet up with friends and family.  There are three raised pods planted with fruit and vegetables, sweet smelly flowers and a sensory pod.  Residents can tend these with the help of staff if they would like to do a spot of gardening.  There are lots of separate seating areas for residents to use throughout the garden; whether its on the garden swing overlooking the pond or the front garden under the tree.  We have moved the summerhouse closer to the conservatory and it now overlooks the side garden making it easily accessible.  Finally, we have our wonderful elephant fountain which erupts with a spout of water in the summer months to the delight of young and old.

A fully equipped Hairdressing Salon is available with weekly visits from our Hairdresser, Jenny, which are very popular.

We have two Chiropodists who visit on a regular basis to ensure the health of our residents' footcare.
